Thrive Learning Academy is a year-round, nonpublic special education school located in Washington, D.C. We specialize in supporting students with autism, intellectual disabilities, emotional disabilities, and specific learning disorders. With a small, nurturing setting and a capacity of 40 scholars, Thrive provides individualized instruction, social-emotional learning, daily living skills, and pre-vocational training to prepare students for meaningful post-secondary success. Rooted in our mission to “Teach. Empower. Thrive”. We help students build confidence, independence, and a future full of possibility.

Individualized Academic and Life Skills Instruction
Thrive delivers personalized, standards-aligned academic instruction embedded with functional life skills to help students build independence. Lessons are delivered using a natural environment teaching model and ABA-inspired strategies to ensure that learning is meaningful, practical, and transferable to real-world settings.
Social-Emotional and Behavioral Support Services
Thrive prepares students for life beyond school by providing direct instruction in daily living skills, pre-vocational training, and community-based instruction. Transition services are tailored to individual goals and supported by collaboration with families, service agencies, and future employers to promote long-term success and quality of life.
Post-Secondary Transition and Vocational Readiness Programs
Students receive structured support to strengthen their emotional regulation, interpersonal communication, and coping skills. Through social-emotional learning frameworks, behavior intervention plans, and therapeutic interventions, Thrive fosters a safe and supportive environment where students can thrive emotionally and behaviorally.
